Manchester United interested in bringing Barcelona’s £8m-rated Alex Song back to the Premier League [Mirror]

It’s never quite worked out for Alex Song at Barcelona (See archive article by Paul Morrissey on Song’s difficult circumstances at the Camp Nou)

With the Cameroon midfielder frozen out of first team opportunities, and the likelihood that incoming manager Luis Enrique will dig from the cantera, it looks as though Song’s time is up at Barcelona.

The Mirror claim that at his now cut-down price of just £8m – a depreciation of more than half his value on arrival at Barcelona – Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in bringing him back to the Premier League.

Whatever about United, Liverpool could certainly do with a defensive minded midfielder of Song’s tenacity to bring some steel to their flaky rearguard.
