Man United to activate Christian Benteke’s £32m release clause at Aston Villa [Sun]

Linked heavily with a move to Liverpool, Aston Vila striker Christian Benteke could be closing in on a transfer to their rivals Manchester United.

According to The (rather unreliable) Sun, Louis van Gaal is prepared to activate the Belgian’s £32m release clause.

The Sun report that Christian Benteke could be a Manchester United player by the weekend. The Sun are almost definitely wrong.

Their story actually comes from the 24 year old favouriting a tweet linking him to Manchester United earlier on Wednesday.

Just hours earlier, Benteke’s agent denied reports that Manchester United have shown any interest whatsoever in the player.

The 24 year old frontman has spent three seasons at Aston Villa, scoring 42 goals whilst attracting attention from a host of top Premier League clubs.

Louis van Gaal is in the market for a new striker but the Dutch manager has showed zero interest in Christian Benteke thus far.
