Man United legend Peter Schmeichel addresses managerial link to Sheffield United on Twitter, doesn’t rule move out

The Mirror on Monday linked Manchester United goalkeeping legend Peter Schmeichel to the vacant managerial post at Sheffield United.

The crux of the light-on-facts article from John Cross reported:

Peter Schmeichel wants the Sheffield United job. Manchester United legend Schmeichel, who has done his coaching badges, is set to throw his hat into the ring to succeed David Weir.

On Monday morning Schmeichel addressed the rumour on Twitter, and most significantly the great Dane did not rule out the possibility of taking a role at Brammel Lane.

The Man United star tweeted:

I can see that I’ve been linked with the vacant managers job at Sheffield United. This is not my doing, I have not applied for any jobs, but it’s great to be associated with such a great football club.
