Liverpool have been linked with Derby midfielder Will Hughes for some time.
Brendan Rodgers was reportedly keen on the 18-year-old in the summer and according to the football gossips, is expected to return to Derby with an offer in January.
A report in the Daily Mail on Thursday suggests Manchester United will battle with Liverpool for Will Hughes in the coming transfer window.
According to John Drayton in the Mail: “Manchester United manager David Moyes wants to sign Derby County midfielder Will Hughes in the January transfer window. The United boss is not convinced that January purchases are the way forward but is keen on signing the youngster.”
Whether Derby would be willing to sell Hughes is unknown, perhaps a big offer plus a loan-back option may entice the Rams and new boss Steve McClaren.
Hughes, a left-footed midfielder has already made nearly 50 appearances for the mid-table Championship side.
