Mad! Tony Pulis leaves Crystal Palace by mutual consent 2 days before season starts! [Twitter Reaction]

Panic on the streets of Crystal Palace: manager Tony Pulis has parted company with the club by mutual consent, just two days before the start of the new Premier League season.

The baseball cap-wearing manager has left over a disagreement with the board concerning transfer policy, after clashing with chairman Steve Parish over who should have most responsibility over transfers.

It’s an extraordinary turn of events, firstly, for Palace to let Pulis go so easily, considering he saved them from relegation last season.

Palace were rock bottom when he took them over in November 2013, and under his guidance they secured safety, pulling off a few big results along the way (beating Chelsea, that famous Liverpool draw).

On the flipside, a bit of a cult has been built up around Pulis from his time at Stoke; as one person tweets: surely they can find someone who can steer them to 17th again?

David Moyes has emerged joint favourite to take over, with Neil Lennon and Malachy Mackay also being touted.

Keith Mirren takes over as caretaker manager for the time being.

Just Arsenal on Saturday….
