LVG thinks he’s staying at Man United, Real Madrid want Jose Mourinho [Guillem Balague]

Guillem Balague took to Twitter on Wednesday night to wade into the confusion surrounding who will be Manchester United’s manager at the start of next season.

It’s beginning to become clear that there are two competing narratives in this story.

Louis van Gaal, who remains under contract at Old Trafford until 2017, thinks he’s staying.

That’s provoked stories of his involvement in United’s China tour in the summer, and talk of a 100 million euro summer war chest.

But Jose Mourinho also believes he’s in line for the job.

According to Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, the Special One and his people believe the United gig is a “done deal”.

But just in case United fumble the ball, Real Madrid are thought to be waiting in the wings to offer Mourinho his old job back.
