Rafa Benitez has lost his first game as Real Madrid manager.
The former Liverpool boss saw his side play out a goalless draw with Italian giants AS Roma before the game was decided on penalties.
To be fair, losing 7-6 in a penalty shoot-out is pretty much the narrowest possible defeat.
Lucas Vazquez, a prodigal son of Madrid, didn’t make the best of returns as it was his crucial penalty miss that allowed Roma to prevail.
Ex-Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita kept up Roma’s 100 percent conversion rate after Vazquez saw his set-piece saved. Keylor Navas probably could have done better over the course of a shoot-out which you can watch in the video below.
