Going into the final week of the transfer window, Liverpool fans are getting a little worried.
In with a real chance of a top four finish, Brendan Rodgers appears to have lost out on Mohamed Salah to Chelsea and the Liverpool midfield needs more options.
Steven Gerrard has struggled in a deeper midfield role of late and Lucas Leiva’s injury, picked up in Liverpool’s draw with Aston Villa last week, was a big blow.
The Sunday Times claim Liverpool want Benfica midfielder Andre Gomes and will push on with a move this week.
Whether Benfica will sell, just days after Nemanja Matic departed to Chelsea, seems unlikely.
Gomes, 20, played the full 90 minutes for Benfica on Saturday night as they beat Gil Vicente in the Taca de Liga.
