21-year-old Dutch international Ola John is available for a loan deal this winter.
Since joining Benfica from FC Twente for €9 million in 2012, John has struggled to hold down a place in the Eagles starting eleven, and he has so far only featured seven times this campaign.
Struggling for game time before the 2014 World Cup is clearly a problem for the winger who habours aspirations of playing in Brazil in the summer, and by all accounts both the player and Benfica are both eager to move on from their current positions this January.
Ajax have been reported as the frontrunners for Ola John’s signature, however Dutch website AD.nl now say that Liverpool and Swansea are trying to lure the forward to the Premier League.
Unfortunately AD.nl fail to give many details of Liverpool and Swansea’s plots to try and sign Ola John, and the overriding feeling is that Ajax will land the forward at the end of the day.
From Liverpool’s perspective, Ola John appears to be the latest name thrown into the mix as Brendan Rodgers tries to add some extra width to his Reds squad. Of course, FC Basel’s Mohamed Salah remains the most likely signing which the Anfield club will make to fill that hole on their roster.
Video evidence of Ola John can be seen below.
