Norwegian site Afenposten claim Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Valon Berisha, and have now entered talks with Salzburg for the Norwegian international.
And former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier, now boss at the Austrian side, is a useful link that Liverpool may benefit from.
Afenpost report that Liverpool sent scouts to watch Berisha last weekend, as Salzburg surprisingly beat Bayern Munich in a friendly; and that following Berisha’s positive performance, the Reds have now decided to enter negotiations for Berisha.
Still just 20 and yet to hit the radar on a Europe-wide scale, Berisha is valued at a mere £2.5m, representing a low-risk factor for Liverpool and manager Brendan Rodgers.
