Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers target Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes as Monaco move falls through [Metro]

The Barcelona keeper declared his decision to leave this summer some time ago, and it’s unlikely he expected his situation to still be so uncertain at this stage.

And now that his move to Monaco has fallen through, as confirmed by L’Equipe, Metro claim that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers may now be ready to swoop for the Catalan.

With Simon Mignolet far from convincing last season, and Pepe Reina’s loan situation yet to be cleared up, Valdes presents an interesting option for Liverpool, especially as Rodgers has long been an admirer of Valdes’ ‘sweeper-keeeper skills.
