The San Siro has been a poor hunting ground for both AC Milan and Inter so far this season, and both teams will be looking to revive their home fortunes in the derby. Inter currently sit third four points back from leaders Juve, whilst Milan lie in lowly eleventh having lost three of their opening six games.
Despite the Rossoneri’s bad beginning to their campaign, recent weeks have seen an upturn in their form. Their last three games have included two wins and a draw, while Milan’s 3-2 away win at Zenit St. Petersburgin the Champions League was widely regarded as Massimo Allegri’s best result of the season.
Central to Milan’s improvement has been the performances of teenager forward Stephen El Shaarawy. The 19-year-old striker has scored five goals in his last four matches, and he could be partnered with Giampaolo Pazzini in the attack.
As for Inter, while they looked shaky in a 3-1 home loss to Roma in the second match of the season, the Nerazzurri were much sharper in a 2-1 win over Fiorentina last weekend, getting goals from Diego Milito and Antonio Cassano.
Those forwards should start the derby for the blue and blacks, however Inter will likely be without Wesley Sneijder who is working his way back from a thigh injury.
