In the midst of Euro 2012, French newspaper L’Equipe have claimed one of the transfer stories of the summer: AC Milan central defender Thiago Silva is heading to Paris Saint Germain in a mega deal.
Silva, arguably the best defender in world football, could sign for PSG as early as Wednesday for at least 40 million euros.
Wednesday is the earliest Silva can sign for the Ligue 1 side and Carlo Ancelotti’s side are also expected to announce the capture of Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli.
L’Equipe add that PSG are willing to spend up to 50 million euros and the mega transfer fee for the 27-year-old is what has convinced Silvio Berlusconi and the AC Milan hierachy to sell.
This news comes as a major blow to Barcelona who had been thought favourites to sign Silva this summer. It also sheds major question marks on what AC Milan can expect to achieve next season without their best player.
