Barcelona’s final game of the La Liga season against Deportivo La Coruna at the Nou Camp is being investigated for match fixing.

Luis Enrique’s side did not draw or lose many matches in the second half of the season, but on the final day they were held to a 2-2 draw by relegation threatened Deportivo La Coruna.

Now questions are being asked due to some comments from Deportivo La Coruna defender Alberto Lopo.

According to the Deportivo defender: “I told Xavi to slow it down, that a tie was good for both teams.”

Barcelona had raced into a 2-0 lead by the hour mark thanks to a brace from Lionel Messi. Goals on 67 and 76 from Lucas Pérez and Diogo Salomão secured the draw for Deportivo.

A source has told El Mundo Deportivo that La Liga are looking into the match, as Deportivo kept their place in Spain’s top flight thanks to the 2-2 draw.

Deportivo finished level on 35 points with relegated Eibar and Granada.

There are suggestions that Lopo was “joking” and that a wrongly disallowed Leo Messi goal shows Barcelona did not take their foot off the peddle.
