It was the image that summed up Holland’s 2-1 comeback win over Mexico.
Substitute Klaas Jan Huntelaar, responsible for an assist and a goal, after only coming on with 15 minutes to go, jumping up and kicking the corner flag in celebration after bagging the penalty winner.
After the game, Huntelaar said: “This is what you dream about as a little boy. To see it come true… amazing.”
Huntelaar also discussed a conversation with Arjen Robben just before the penalty: “Arjen had the ball and asked: ‘Will you take it?’ As I stood there, I thought only that I had missed the last one…”
So, you can understand why Huntelaar was so happy to hit the ball past Mexico’s wall of a keeper, Guillermo Ochoa.
