Keylor Navas aims to be first choice goalkeeper at his first Real Madrid press conference [Video]
Keylor Navas spoke to the media for the first time since moving to Real Madrid from Levante and confirmed that he didn’t come to merely make up the numbers.
Navas has competition from Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas and the man who overtook him in the pecking order, Diego Lopez, but insisted he’s only aiming to be first choice: “I know there are two great goalkeepers here and they have been outstanding for many years. But I’m here, I’m going to be training alongside the best players in the world and if I get that opportunity I’ll hopefully prove to all that I’m capable and good enough to be this club’s number one goalkeeper.”
He added how it was the realization of a personal to dream to be joining Real Madrid: “It’s a great duty for my career, I wanted to join the biggest club in the world. “
Navas also stated how he hoped that his move would break down barriers for his countrymen with Costa Rican players rarely being given the chance to play for the world’s biggest clubs.
