“It’s a little bit of a dream come true. I’ve worked very hard and am still very young but have already played a lot of games. To come to a team like Chelsea is a dream but now it’s a reality and I have to work hard to achieve the level that’s necessary. I signed now and now I will go back for six months on loan to play some games and gain more experience.” – Kevin De Bruyne.
The youth initiative at Chelsea has continued on January transfer window deadline day with the capture of Belgian winger Kevin De Bruyne.
The 20-year-old has signed a 5-and-a-half year deal but will remain with Genk for the rest of the season. De Bruyne has been heavily linked with Andre Villas-Boas’ side for some time and was close to moving in the summer, but for an injury to scupper the move.
