Karim Benzema will stay at Real Madrid and extend his contract until 2019 [El Confidencial]

Karim Benzema is not only going to stay put at Real Madrid this summer but will extend his contract until 2019, according to online Spanish newspaper El Confidencial.

Benzema has never thrived as hoped since moving to Real Madrid from Lyon in 2009 and has been linked with a move away from the club with Arsenal being among those tipped to be in the reckoning for his signature.

But apparently the French striker, who scored three goals for his country at the World Cup, is a firm favourite of manager Carlo Ancelotti and has been offered an extension to his contract, pocketing €8 million annually.

Benzema has scored 111 times in 235 appearances in all competitions for the club.
