The departure of Patrice Evra from Manchester United to Juventus was expected.
Nevertheless, Evra has been a terrific servant to Manchester United and despite the arrival of Luke Shaw earlier this summer, the Red Devils will undoubtedly miss the Frenchman.
And, former and current Manchester United players have been quick to react on social media.
Now at QPR, Rio Ferdinand Tweeted his thanks to Evra and backed the younger players at Manchester United to take over from Evra, Vidic and co.
Whilst from the tour in America, both David De Gea and Juan Mata have also posted Tweets thanking Evra for his support and fine play during their time together.
Incredibly, as can be seen from the final Tweet below, only two players remain from the Manchester United side that won the 2008 Champions League final against Chelsea in Moscow.
The old guard has gone….myself, Vidic & Evra…great times together….the young lads are ready, I believe they will now blossom #mufc
