This footage comes from last Saturday’s Football Focus programme on the BBC, with presenter Manish Bhasin interviewing new Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear live on air.
On the chairman Mike Ashley, Kinnear was bullish about the achievements of the man at the top. However the passionate Irish-cockney appeared to have forgotten all his political correctness and tact, coming out with the following outburst: “He’s [Mike Ashley] the one who’s cleared the debts; he’s the one who’s put the money in. He’s the one who’s got Newcastle out of the shit.”
Red-faced, Bhasin had to interrupt Kinnear mid-sentence to apologise for the unfortunate turn of phrase on a Saturday morning family show.
This was just the latest faux-pas from Kinnear since he landed back in football just over a week ago. So far the so-called leader of the “Lazy Gang” has said he was last in management at Nottingham Forest 18 months ago (when it was actually four years previous), whilst saying Alan Shearer will take over the job, despite the Match of The Day pundit saying “I don’t know where that’s come from at all. Don’t know what they’re talking about.”
