Rennes striker Jimmy Briand has been ruled out for about six months with a knee injury he sustained while training with France.

The injury, the striker rupturing his knee ligaments, came about in a challenge with goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso and is a huge blow for Briand whose side Rennes still habour ambitions to play in Europe next season as well as still being involved in the Coupe De France.
