James Rodriguez prevented a fan from being manhandled by stewards at his Real Madrid inauguration today.
James joined the club in a big money move from Monaco and the European champions showed off their new number 10 at a packed Bernabeu on Tuesday afternoon.
Fans were understandably excited to see a budding superstar sign for their club and most could contain themselves at seeing arguably the player of the World Cup in the flesh.
But there’s always one who insists that only a hug will do and on this occasion it was a fan wearing a Colombia jersey that galloped towards James only to be stopped by heavy-handed security.
James stepped in and saved the supporter, even giving him a football. A PR stunt? Perhaps, but it was one that appealed to the home fans.
