The top story from Spanish daily El Confidencial centres on Real Madrid’s #9 position for next season.
El Confidencial review the current climate at the Santiago Bernabeu in regard to their centre-forward position for next term, and the paper determines that Los Blancos will only make a move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez if they can sell Karim Benzema first.
What’s made clear is that Real will never be in a situation where Benzema and Suarez are both on the club’s books.
On Benzema’s future, El Confidencial are far from certain that the Frenchman will be shipped out the club. Despite scoring 17 goals and grabbing six assists last term, belief at the Bernabeu is that Benzema adds a lot of the Madridistas setup.
Indeed, El Confidencial write that “Florentino Perez has always been in favor of giving another chance to the Frenchman”, while ” Ancelotti has no intention of playing around much with his team (this summer), while Cristiano Ronaldo wants Benzema at his side for his generous nature.”
Back on Suarez, El Confidencial also announce than any bid of less than 70 million euros would be sure to fail in getting LIverpool to sell their star forward.
All in all, the impression given by El Confidencial is that Real Madrid are likely to keep hold of Benzema, and not sign Suarez, this summer.
