One down, four to go.
Barcelona wrapped up their first piece of silverware of the season on Sunday night as the Catalans brushed aside Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Super Cup final. After winning the first leg 2-1 last week, Barca ran out 3-nil winners in the return leg at the Nou Camp.
Star of the show was the mercurial, pint-sized Argentine, Leo Messi. The right-sided, left-footed genius was a constant menace throughout, typified by a superb jinking run and deft finish to put Barca in the ascendancy. Messi then assumed the penalty duties with some style to cap another encouraging display.

Looking to challenge Messi as the main man at the champions is new star-signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic. On his performance against Bilbao though, the Swede still has some way to go to claim the crown as Barca’s most dangerous player.
Overall, Zlatan showed some nice touches in areas of the pitch that failed to hurt the opposition, while lacking the cut-and-thrust in the final third that is demanded from a top class centre-forward. That said, it’s still very early days.
