Five goals in three games. Life is rosy for CR9.
After a less than wonderful opening few months to his Real Madrid career the past week had seem a change in fortunes for the world’s most expensive footballer as Ronaldo begins to rise to the fore at the Santiago Bernabau. Having looked in good form against FC Zurich in the Champions League last week after scoring two trademark free-kicks, Ronaldo again netted a brace on Saturday as Los Blancos mauled newbies Xerez 5-nil.
Ronaldo got the ball rolling inside the opening fifty seconds. Picking up the ball ob the edge of the visitors’ box, Ronaldo drifted towards the right hand side of the area before striking a low shot into the near post.
With his confidence up Ronaldo looked a menace patrolling both the left and right flanks during the opening forty-five minutes, although the Portuguese crooner did roll out a few too many unnecessary step-overs in the process.
After the break it was more of the same, Ronaldo continually found speeding away down either touchline of the pitch although his end product remained slightly off-key as the Xerez defenders did their best to keep Ronaldo away from the goal. Their efforts proved unsuccessful as Ronaldo jumped high to meet a corner in the 74th minute, as CR9 claim his second goal of the game from open play.
