Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty may have entitled the world’s most expensive footballer to grab some headlines, however if the truth be told CR9’s La Liga debut against Deoprtivo La Coruna was far from being a memorable occasion.
Stalwarts Lassana Diarra and Raul stole the plaudits for Los Merengues, while Ronaldo looked a little too lost out on the left wing as the Portuguese star appeared to disconnect from the team in general. More of a bystander than a leader, Ronaldo failed to grab the game with both hands as he continued to try and come to terms with his new position which he has been trying to get to grips with since the start of pre-season.
Nit-picking, Ronaldo came up short from with some terrible free-kicks as well as being found dribbling down some dead ends against Deportivo.
