“He played at an extremely high level. He plays with such ease, he makes football look so easy. This is what makes him great.” – Barcelona assistant coach Jordi Roura.
There were some excellent performances in global football this weekend, including Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick v Sevilla and Gareth Bale’s brace against Newcastle but on Sunday lunch time a packed Nou Camp witnessed another master class from Andres Iniesta.
It would be easy to throw out the stats of a goal (just his second of the season for Barca) and an assist (what a glorious ball for Alexis Sanchez!) but there is so much more to Andres Iniesta.
His ball retention, weight of pass, the ability to glide between the lines, the choice of ball to a team mate, its all just football poetry.
And that’s without mentioning the control from a high ball that made the Nou Camp gasp.
At this point it would be easy to make a comment about how lunch time kick offs suit Iniesta but the truth is he plays like this in almost every game.
