All the goals and assists mentioned below can be seen on this video.
IMScouting continues to follow many players around the world, providing a weekly round-up of the best performances of the past week that you might have missed. This week’s list consists of five players playing in Eastern Europe, three from South America, two from the Scandinavian region, one goalkeeper from the Belgium League and a Korean player from Turkey.
Wednesday (22.4): Aleksandar Tonev is considered to be one of the top young Bulgarian talents. At just 19 years of age, his fast pace along with his good technique and control of ball makes him a very dangerous attacking midfielder. On Wednesday night fans received a first glance of what he really is capable of, scoring two in CSKA Sofia’s easy 4-1 win over Vihren Sandanski.
Striker Cristian Bud exploded in the recent round of the Romanian Liga 1, scoring two cracking goals for Gaz Metan Medias in their 3-0 win over Otopeni. The 23-year-old had a good all round game and wowed the crowd with his second goal which was a long range strike.
Thursday (23.4): He was on last week’s “Performances List†and here he is again – Peter Utaka has been starring in the Danish league with four goals and an assist in his last two matches. The 25-year-old supporting striker is giving Odense a lot of confidence climbing up the league table week by week. Odense are currently in third place, just four points off leaders FC Kobenhavn.
Saturday (25.4): Santiago Silva was awarded this week’s “Goal of the week†spot and after a performance like that, you can now also see his amazing second goal in the video below. Silva had a great game in which he scored a brace and provided an assist for his team. The 28-year-old strong striker from Uruguay is playing for BA Banfield, where he shows his good heading ability and technique. This is Silva’s fifth goal in 10 matches in the Clausura so far.
Every week our scouts see so many goals from so many talented players, that it’s easy to forget about the ones keeping the ball out of net. Barry Copa is one goalkeeper that caught our eye. The 29-year-old Ivorian keeper playing for Sporting Lokeren was impossible to beat and kept a clean net in the 3-nil win over Excelsior Mouscron. Copa is described by IMScouting scouts as a spectacular keeper with excellent reflexes and with good technical abilities, since he played up front when he was growing up.
Sunday (26.4): Mexican, Ulises Mendivil, is a superb target striker who only thinks about scoring goals. Evidence of this can be seen on the video below, Mendivil scored a hat-trick in Pachuca’s 3-0 win over Cruz Azul. The very strong 1.85m striker is said to almost always bring home the goodies when facing the goalkeeper.
Sampdoria were delighted to see the first two goals from a product of their youth team. Guido Marilungo, 19, scored a brace in Sampdoria’s 3-3 draw against Cagliari and dedicated the goals to his mother and grandmother who recently passed away. Marilungo is a fast striker with good dribbling skills who can also score using his head and is on his way to becoming a valuable member of the squad.
The Bulgarian A PFG is led by two teams only four points apart, while the third placed side is 11 points adrift. Levski Sofia, in second, made it known that they are not going to sit this out to give CSKA Sofia the title. Levski triumphed over Belasitsa Petrich in a 7-1 win, lead by striker Georgi Hristov who scored four goals in the match. But it was not Hristov’s mediocre goals that caught our eye. 21-year-old attacking midfielder Nikolay Dimitrov was our man of the match providing three assists and numerous chances for Levski. The free kick specialist is a very good prospect for Bulgaria and was also linked in the past with Arsenal.
Anas Sharbini (pictured) is no stranger to IMScouting followers, being a September Player to Watch and reportedly linked to clubs such as Hoffenheim, Manchester United, Celtic and others. Sharbini scored a hat-trick and provided an assist in NK Rijeka’s massive 6-2 win over Slaven Koprivnica, helped also by his older brother Ahmed who scored two plus an assist.
One of the most interesting player’s on this report is Roberto Mariano Solva Washington or just Washington. The 2.02m, 23-year-old striker playing for Serbian side, Partizan Belgrade, shocked the crowed after scoring a brace following ten goal-less appearances in the team. Brazilian strikers are often small and very technical – Washington is definitely not small, but in comparison to his height he is still very fast and quite technical and is also a natural in the air.
Shing Young Rok is not a name one would immediately link to Turkish teams, but the lone Asian in the Super Lig, is one of the league’s most pleasant foreign surprises. Shing scored a brace in Bursespor two-nil win over Denizlispor, scoring three goals so far in the league. The 22-year-old striker has great technical abilities and is settling down well in the team. IMScouting scouts predict that Shing might be the start of a chain of Asian players that can and should be brought to the Middle Eastern Leagues (Turkey, Greece, Cyprus and Israel).
Monday (27.4): To conclude the list, we bring you an astonishing performance from Finland’s FC Honka Espoo. Hermanni Vuorinen amazed VPS Vaasa by scoring four great goals, making him the league’s top scorer with six goals in only three matches. Despite his size (1.93m) Vuorinen runs a lot often ending up in dangerous positions. In the 2006 season Vuorinen was the Veikkausliiga’s top scorer with 16 goals in only 17 matches. At 24, Hermanni Vuorinen is a name to remember and by the looks of things the next Finnish player to head south to higher leagues.
