The excellent @MisterChiping has teased out some Real Madrid stats which pivot around the recent injury to Los Blancos midfielder Luca Modric.
Former Tottenham maestro Modric has been missing for a large chunk of the season with injury.
Modric has been sidelined since December when he picked up a thigh injury in Croatia’s 1-1 draw with Italy.
The former Spurs star was substituted in the first-half of the Euro 2016 qualifier in Milan, and scans later confirmed Modric had torn the left proximal rectus femoris tendon.
As Real Madrid wait for Modric to return, @MisterChiping has looked at Real Madrid’s scoring record with and without the Croatian this season.
In an eye opening discovery, Real Madrid were scoring an average of 3.16 goals per game before Luka Modric got hurt.
Since his injury, Real’s goals per game record has slumped to 2.30.
Real Madrid surrendered their spot on top of La Liga this weekend as Carklo Ancelotti’s side lost to Atheltic Bilbao, while Barcelona thumped Rayo 6-1.
