Ilkay Gundogan has not played a professional match since August 14, 2013 – when he scored for Germany in a 3-3 draw with Paraguay.
A back problem saw Gundogan miss the whole 2013/2014 season just as he was becoming a key player for club and country.
The Dortmund playmaker had been so good in the previous campaign, when Jurgen Klopp’s side reached the Champions League final, that moves to Manchester United and Barcelona were regularly mooted.
Thankfully, Gundogan has now returned to Borussia Dortmund training, posting a picture on his Facebook picture on Sunday – see above.
Welcome back Ilkay!
