“I am at my best moment of the season.” – Hulk speaking after Porto’s victory over Vitoria Guimaraes on Saturday.
He may not only have the name of a comic book hero, Hulk has the ego of one too. But the Brazilian striker has good reason for his cockiness and Manchester United should ingore his threats at their peril.
At 22-years-old Hulk is still a maturing striker. The Brazilian moved to Porto from Tokyo Verdy back in 2008 and since joining the The Dragons for €5.5m the left-footed forward has gone on the net eight times in 29 appearances, while also chipping in with a further four assists.
But do not let the stats fool you. There is far more to Hulk’s game than numbers, as the Porto number 12 has real ability. Hulk possesses significant upper-body strength, great individual technique, pace, and a cultured left foot. And dovetailing with fellow striker Lisandro Lopez, expect to see Hulk drop off into the hole or found taking up space wide left looking to create problems.
Gary Neville could well get the run around if he is played at right back tonight.
Hulk put in a stellar performance against Vitoria Guimaraes last weekend and individual highlights of his shift can be seen here.
