The Copa Libertadores recorded something of an upset on Wednesday night as FC Bolivar beat Santos 2-1 in the first leg of their last-16 clash.
FC Bolivar’s victory was tarnished, however, after their supporters twice interrupted play by hurling missiles onto the pitch.
The first pelting problem began 20 minutes into the second half.
After Neymar has won a free-kick tight on the touchline, the starlet, along with teammate Ganso, required riot police protection after some Bolivar fans hurled objects at the Santos twosome. On this occasion all the objects missed their targets and the match was quickly resumed.
With less than 15 minutes on the clock a second, more troublesome pelting incident, occurred.
This time Neymar was all on his lonesome as the shaggy-haired Brazilian made his way over to take a corner. But before Naymar could take the set-play the match came to an abrupt halt as the forward was grounded by another lobbed missile from the stands.
After riding around on the turf for a couple of minutes, and having received protection from more riot police and his fellow Santos colleagues, Neymar got back up on his feet and saw the match out to its completion.
