Chelsea have held talks with Antonio Conte about taking over as their manager next season, according to Italian transfer market specialists Tutto Mercato Web.
With Guus Hiddink in situ as interim boss until the end of the season after Jose Mourinho was given his P45, the Blues chiefs are actively on the market for a new manager for 2016-17.
The likes of Diego Simeone, Pep Guardiola and even Carlo Ancelotti have been linked with the job, though no real headway has yet been made in terms of concrete offers.
But it appears they’ve stepped up their search now by holding talks with former Juve boss and current Italy manager Antonio Conte.
Still just 46 (very young for an international manager), it’s likely Conte could be tempted back into club management by an offer such as Chelsea.
But given the links with the likes of Pep and Simeone, Blues fans will probably see Conte as a bit of a come-down.
