Grays Athletic player-manager Mark Bentley did something special last week in a match against Hampton & Richmond Borough.
Playing in the sixth tier of English football, Grays won the game 3-2 thanks to a marvelous substitution from the Athletic manager.
With the hosts trailing 2-1, Mark Bentley brought himself onto the pitch, and the gaffer soon turned the tide of the match.
Bentley equalised for his team with a header from a corner, and that was just the start to the gaffer’s magical day, as soon after he was needed to fill in in goal after his keeper pulled up with an injury.
Amazingly, in the 81st minute Bentley stopped a penalty to keep the scores level a 2-apiece.
Topping off a special day, Grays Athletic went on to win the match 3-2 at the death.
