What a difference a few months make!
Not so long ago (at Spurs in January to be precise) David De Gea was being criticised left right and centre for goal keeping errors that were supposedly costing Manchester United.
Reports were widespread that Sir Alex Ferguson had lost patience with the Manchester United number one and De Gea would be heading back to Spain in the summer.
This all feels like a long time ago, with De Gea having been remarkably consistent in goal for Manchester United and once again on Sunday, the Spaniard made a terrific save with his legs in the 90th minute to ensure a 2-2 draw.
If De Gea concedes to countryman Juan Mata, Manchester United are out of the FA Cup and Chelsea have turned it round from 2-0 down to win 3-2.
Reminiscent of his brilliant display in the Bernabeu (GIFs here) it wasn’t just the quality of the save from Juan Mata that impressed but also the timing of it, that means it will live long in the memory.
Quite simply, Manchester United are still in the FA Cup thanks to David De Gea.
Does anybody still think he is heading to Barcelona in the summer?!
