With the World Cup qualifiers causing a suspension of all domestic football, local French football fans were served up a exhibition futsal tournament at the weekend, with the pick of the matches seeing a PSG team play out an 8-all draw with a France ’98 select team.
Turing out for the Les Bleus were World Cup winning legends legends including Zinedine Zidane, Fabian Barthez, Youri Djorkaeff, and Frank Leboeuf while PSG packed out their side with many of the current stars including Claude Makelele, Ludovic Giuly and Mateja Kezman.
PSG were the first to strike after two minutes, Ludovic Giuly embarrassing Fabien Barthez with a sneaky shot inside the former Manchester United’s keeper near post (watch here.) Giuly went on to claim a first half hat-trick, as the Parisians headed into the break 6-3 up.
The French ’98 legends let in a seventh goal at the start of the second half, only to produce a stellar fight-back starting with a goal from Fabian Barthez (watch here). Further strikes from Zidane, Djorkaeff and Bernard Diomede made the score 7-all with each side bagging another goal apiece in the entertaining 16-goal encounter.
