A flare-up between Neymar and Severo Meza attracted a lot of attention as Mexico ended Brazil’s 10-game unbeaten run on Sunday.
The collision came about in the 81st minute, after Meza stopped Neymar advancing down the Brazilian left hand side with a forceful block. At the same time as making his tackle, Meza’s flailing left arm came very close to Neymar’s kisser, and that caused the Brazilian youngster the act out.
Like a lama, Neymar stuck out his face and appeared to spit in the Monterrey right-back’s face. Whether any flob actually came out of Neymar’s mouth was difficult to see, but in any event Meza was quick to retaliate as the Mexican full-back put his right hand around his Neymar’s neck which sent the Brazilian crashing to the turf.
At that points players from both sides rushed in to separate the twosome, and the aftermath saw Meza and Neymar both collect yellow cards.
