Footbrawl: Fan violence spills over in Indonesia (Persija Jakarta vs Persiwa Wamena)What the hell has happened to football this week?

After the harrowing events in Egypt on Wednesday, football has now witnessed yet another appalling piece of fan violence in Indonesia.

Persija Jakarta played host to Persiwa Wamena on Friday in the Indonesian Super League, and the match was interrupted in the 75th minute when a handful of Persiwa Wamena fans sidestepped idol security and rioted after their side had conceded a penalty for a handball.

Although only small in number, the pocket of Persiwa fans caused havoc as they made their way onto the field and headed straight for the Persija players and the match officials. Then, in a worrying escalation, dozens more Wamena supporters piled onto the pitch and a full scale riot was underway.

Soon the local Persija Jakarta were also running for cover as several fires were set alight on the field.

According to local reports, it took the security five minutes to quell the riots at the match. Amazingly the match then resumed and Persija went on to claim a 2-1 win.

Watch the Persiwa Wamena fans riots here.
