Just a day after Wycombe keeper Jordan Archer was jumped on from behind by a Gillingham fan, another match involving lower league teams in England has witnessed an unsavoury fan incident.
Coventry lost 3-0 at home against Crewe on Tuesday night in the northern final first leg of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy with over 30,000 present in a huge attendance for this type of match.
A Coventry fan invaded the pitch with his side losing and was immediately stopped by three players, including Cyrus Christie who kicked out.
With a number of orange-jacketed stewards rather slow to get on the scene, it was left to the Coventry threesome to bundle the pitch invader off the pitch.
Although difficult to make out on the video below, Cyrus Christie was then booked for his troubles in one of the most disappointing and pathetic cautions ever seen on a football pitch.
