“Face to Face” – Diego Maradona’s curious public negotiation for Iraq job
- Updated: January 1, 2013
A couple of days ago, the speculation linking Diego Maradona with taking over the Iraq national team came to an abrupt halt as Hakeem Shakir was appointed coach.
Maradona was reportedly keen on taking the Iraq job, presumably due to the lorry loads of cash and after experiencing working in the Middle East as an advisor to UAE side Al-Wasl.
Bizarre footage has now emerged via Spanish website La Sexta, who claim to have filmed Maradona in negotiations for the Iraq job during his visit to Dubai last week.
The former Argentina coach and arguably the second best player to have played the game, seems to suggest he is willing to take the job, in full view of plenty of passers by and those eager for a photo with the great man.
In English, he urges the supposed Iraq official to negotiate “Face to Face!”
