It was one of the most heart warming scenes seen in Serie A or anywhere else this season and it ended with a booking.
With two minutes remaining of Roma-Napoli, the side from the capital were losing 2-1, up popped Fabio Simplicio at the back post to secure a point for Luis Enrique’s beleaguered side and the Brazilian then embarked one of the longest celebrations you will ever see.
Ignoring his team mates, who all looked relieved to have secured a point, Simplicio ran into the crowd, gave his young son a kiss first before planting a smacker on his wife’s lips as well.
The 32-year-old former Palermo and Sao Paolo midfielder then made his way back on to the pitch, where he was greeted with a yellow card from referee Nicola Rizzoli.
In truth, whilst we often bemoan yellow cards for celebrating on this site, by the time Simplicio returned, all 21 other players were in position and ready to kick off!
