A sensational story is making its way from Spain today, sadly there is no video evidence, as far as we are aware.

Valencia midfielder Ever Banega is set to undergo ankle surgery after injuring himself on Sunday.

After leaving a training session, Banega reportedly went to fill up his car with petrol but forgot to apply the hand brake on his motor and it ran over his ankle.

According to Reuters, the Argentine midfielder’s foot was caught between the curb and a wheel and he had to be taken to hospital by ambulance.

Incredibly, Banega could be out for as long as six months after fracturing the tibia and fibula in his ankle. He was not expected to play at Barcelona this evening due to a sore knee.
