Its pretty rare that you see an official club channel Tweet in the kind of tone that Manchester United did, during the 1-1 draw at Sunderland on Sunday.
Louis van Gaal’s side were pretty insipid throughout, creating very few chances of note and came away from the Stadium of Light, usually a happy hunting ground, having picked up just a 1-1 draw.
Chris Smalling picked up an injury. Robin van Persie failed to play the full 90 minutes as expected. And Darren Fletcher and Tom Cleverley were as bad as expected in the Manchester United midfield.
Many Sunderland fans and pundits felt it was a missed opportunity for Gus Poyet’s side.
And, even the Manchester United Twitter account seemed to give up on 86 minutes – see Tweet above.
The official Instagram recap was a bit more positive – after the game: “The Reds are forced to settle for a draw”.
