This is one for Evertonians to savour.
Yesterday was a special day for the blue half of Merseyside, as the club took time out to honour a select band of former Goodison Park legends who were chosen to be the latest inductees into the Gwladys Street Hall of Fame.
And perhaps the standout moment of the evening arrived during a 4-minute heart-felt speech given by former Scottish hardman Duncan Ferguson, who delivered an emotional thank you to the adoring crowd before making public his love-affair with the club.
Ferguson: “It’s an honour to be voted into a Hall of Fame alongside all these great names. I am very, very proud. I have played for other quite big football clubs, but when I think about my career I only ever really think about having played here… I never had a relationship at those other clubs like I had with you… I was proud to be captain of Everton under three different managers. When you’ve played for Everton, other clubs are nothing, nothing!”
