It’s taken a few weeks to get over the line, but Napoli have confirmed on Thursday that they have signed Swansea’s Spanish striker Michu on a season-long loan.
The news was broken by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis on Twitter, writing “Benvenuto a Michu” – “Welcome Michu”.
Swansea have already signed Bafetimbi Gomis from Lyon, however the loss of Michu will be hard felt. Despite him missing large chunks of last season with injury, Michu made a huge impact in Wales where he scored 20 goals in 52 games.
Napoli boss Rafa Benetiz now has a wealth of attacking talent on his books including Marek Hamšík, José Callejón, Gonzalo Higuaín, Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne.
Napoli are in the Champions League having finished 3rd last season in Serie A.
