Dirty Diver! A phantom foul leaves Neymar in a crumpled heap (Santos v Gremio)
- Updated: July 9, 2012
You’ve got to feel sorry for Gremio’s Werley.
On Sunday night Gremio lost 4-2 away at Santos after the hosts closed out the match having gone 4-up by the 70th minute.
Gremio were largely outplayed during those opening 70 minutes, but they were also battling against the referee who made a horrible decision in the 68th minute when starlet Neymar went down as if he’d been shot.
Neymar, who had bagged Santos’ third goal with a header, broke down the left hand side midway through the second half after robbing Werley of possession. The Gremio defender came snapping back at Neymar, and the result was that the Brazilian upstart was left clutching his leg on the touchline.
Only there was one problem with Neymar’s injury. Werley never kicked him.
Instead Neymar faked the injury, and Gremio were served with a double whammy as Felipe Anderson went on to curl the resulting free-kick into the back of the net.
Watch Neymar faking it below.
