Diego Maradona has had numerous run-ins with journalists, so the clip above should come as no surprise.
El Diego has returned to the front pages of the newspapers in Argentina after he was trailed by a large pack of journalists when he went to the theatre on Saturday.
On leaving Argentina’s National Theatre, along with Veronica Ojeda and his son Diego Fernando, Maradona got out his car and slapped a journalist: “What is it, fool. Why mess with my wife if I do not mess with you?”
Maradona was earlier explaining to the throng of media pushing their microphones into his car that “This is the a gift for my child. One of the first days I have spent with my son.”
The 1986 World Cup winning captain added: “I have a happy environment so stop breaking balls, because I am 53 years old and I’m not the “Dieguito”, my name is Diego Armando Maradona!”
There is speculation in Argentina that the journalist who received a slap from Maradona, had gestured or winked towards Veronica Ojeda, his girlfriend.
