Once again, Barcelona’s domination in the Champions League continued on Tuesday night as the Catalan giants all but secured their place in the quarter-finals with a convincing 3-1 win at Bayer Leverkusen.
A good illustration of this is that Barcelona have had more ball possession than all their opponents in all 45 Champions League matches played under Pep Guardiola.
As a result, to find the negatives isn’t easy. But, there are plenty who despair of some of Barcelona’s play acting with Sergio Busquets guilty of this on a regular basis.
Plenty of you have already complained about Busquets’ dive with 10 minutes remaining at Leverkusen as the defensive midfielder appeared to barge Gonzalo Castro before simulating a dive.
The ESPN match report records the incident like this: “Busquets hurts himself as he tries a shoulder barge. Castro, remarkably, gets booked for being on the end of Busquets’ challenge.”
As can be seen on the video below, Pep Guardiola appeared more worried about Busquets picking up a severe injury whilst Scottish referee Craig Thomson handed out a caution to the Leverkusen midfielder.
