It may not have been as visual horrific as Alexandre Carioca’s arrest after hitting Aldivan with an iron bar last week in Brazil, but more shocking scenes have stained the Beautiful Game over the weekend.
The Czech top flight is back in full swing after their winter break, and Sunday saw Mlada Boleslav beat Ostrava 2-1 in an top versus bottom match up.
Mlada went 2-up in the first half through a Marek Kulic penalty and an Ondrej Kudela volley, and the Ostrava fans – facing potential relegation – didn’t like that at all.
As the players headed off for halftime, one Ostrava is claimed to have jumped out of the Mlada section and began fighting with stewards.”At first glance it seemed that it was a fan of Mlada Boleslav because he ran onto the pitch because of our sector. But it was a fan of Ostrava,” said main organiser Milan Krejci.
From there the pictures capture a fan being manhandled by two spotty yellow flap-jacketed stewards, while two thugs stalked the perimeter kicking and punching the crap out of the trapped, immobile prey.
On seeing one of their Ostrava brothers suffer a brutal beating on the pitch, the away supporters duly rioted against the stewards. Reportedly three security men were severely injured in the choas, whilst the fighting brought a ten minute stoppage to proceedings.
