What a goal. Both from an aesthetically pleasing point of view and also from its importance.
Cristiano Ronaldo led Real Madrid to yet another win, this time a 1-0 away victory at Rayo Vallecano, to put them 13 points ahead of Barcelona again, before their match at Atletico Madrid.
The statistics continue to be staggering. The Portuguese forward has scored 36 goals in 37 matches this season for Real Madrid and in total 123 in 125 appearances for Los Blancos.
Of course, whilst Cristiano Ronaldo’s brilliant back heel goal v Rayo Vallecano looks set to be one of our top 10 contenders for goal of the week, it is not the first time CR7 has scored in this manner.
Cristiano Ronaldo back heel v Aston Villa (Manchester United won the Premier League game 4-0, March 30, 2008) The season where Ronaldo was unstoppable for United, included this audacious effort, which included a Martin Laursen Nuts! on its way in.
Cristiano Ronaldo back heel v Guangzhou Evergrande (Real Madrid won the friendly 7-1, August 3, 2011) A back heel from a difficult angle but difficult to get too excited about it as it came in a pre-season friendly against weak opposition.
Cristiano Ronaldo back heel v Malaga (Real Madrid won in La Liga 4-0, October 22, 2011). Ronaldo claimed a hat-trick in this game and Los Blancos eased to the win but this was arguably better than the goal at Vallecano as it was a flying effort.
